Apparently, things still didn't work as they should. Although I myself had no problems downloading either via a Mac or via a PC and transferring the files via a Zip, others report problems. At least one person who initially reported experiencing problems, later indicated to have downloaded the Acrobat files succesfuly, without me having made any changes to the files!
Even so, the problem might well have resulted from using the .bin format on an NT webserver. Therefore I ran several tests with binhexed, self-extracting archives (using DropStuff, with linefeeds added to the binhexed files) which I've uploaded from my Performa 5400 and from a PC (using a Zip for transport). All files were downloaded again, both via the Mac and via the PC using the Zip again. All four tests resulted in an intact Acrobat file.(7/9)
So, all files to be downloaded now were compressed anew, binhexed and posted. Two readers reported experiencing no problems, so I guess everything is in working order now. Posted a message to that effect to the list.
