We suggest to go to the closest airports in Belgium (Brussels Zaventem and Brussels Charleroi) and Germany (Köln and Düsseldorf) and take an airport shuttle in advance. As this taxi service has limited capacity it is compulsory to book it a few days before. Some transfer companies are:
- Alfa Tax, Genk/Belgium, by sending a fax to +32-89-614930/phone +32 89 614930. The fare from Zaventem (Brussels Airport) to Valkenburg and return for one or two persons is €110,00
- Lindetours, Voerendaal/Netherlands by sending an email to vakwerk@lindetours.nl [www.lindetours.nl]. The single fare from Zaventem (Brussels Airport) to Valkenburg is €34,00. From Düsseldorf to Valkenburg is €35,50. From Köln to Valkenburg the taxi fare is €131
You can also fly to The Netherlands (Eindhoven) and take a train to Valkenburg aan de Geul (www.ns.nl, 1h20’, €16) or a taxi service (with Lindetours, €115)
When any of these options is not possible from your destination, fly
to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and take a connecting flight
to Maastricht-Aachen Airport or the train to Valkenburg
(www.ns.nl, 3h, €28).

Follow the highway A2 via Eindhoven direction A2 Maastricht. Take exit 51 Meerssen and follow the signs Valkenburg. Then you take highway A79 direction Valkenburg/Heerlen.
Take exit 3 Valkenburg, at the end of the exit go right and at the T-junction go direction Valkenburg. In Valkenburg at the traffic lights you go straight on direction Schin op Geul and after about 200 metres you see the sign Verpleeghuis Valkenheim/Kasteel Oost on the left. You are now on the Oosterweg. Kasteel Oost is situated after 500 metres on the right
Brussels (122 Km)
Follow the highway A3 from Brussels direction Liege. In Liege follow the highway E25 direction Maastricht. In Maastricht take the highway A79 direction Valkenburg/Heerlen. Take the exit Valkenburg/Hulsberg and follow the road sign Valkenburg. Cross the railway and at the T-junction turn left. After 200 metres follow the sign Verpleeghuis Valkenheim/Kasteel Oost. You are now on the Oosterweg. Kasteel Oost is situated after 500 metres on the right
Antwerpen (127 Km)
Use E34 for 8km from the Antwerpse "Ring"
continue on E313 and A2 via ZOLDER to AACHEN
Exit-1 on A2 to A2 MAASTRICHT
Exit-51 on A2 to VALKENBURG A79 at MEERSSEN
after 5 Mi on the A79 exit-3 at VALKENBURG-HOUTHEM
Koln/Cologne (95 Km)
From Cologne go direction Aachen/Aken/Heerlen E314. In Heerlen follow the highway A79 direction Valkenburg, Maastricht. Take the exit Valkenburg/Hulsberg and follow the road sign Valkenburg. Cross the railway and at the T-junction, turn left. After 200 metres follow the sign Verpleeghuis Valkenheim/Kasteel Oost. You are now on the Oosterweg.
